Leeann Allen

Receptionist

Leeann was born and raised Atlanta, Georgia.  She moved to Waco to attend Baylor University.  In 2008 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication.  She is currently working on her Masters of Education in Counseling at Tarleton State University.  She hopes to work with at-risk youth encouraging them to graduate from high school and attend college. While at Baylor, Leeann met her husband, Stephen.  He also graduated from Baylor in 2008 with a BBA in management.  He is currently a student at Truett Seminary.

Stephen and Leeann rescued a mutt named Wyatt.  In her spare time, Leeann likes to cook, hang out with friends and go to Baylor football or baseball games. She loves Baylor, sweet tea, being outside, and taking Wyatt for walks.  If she could be anywhere, Leeann would want to go to the beach or waterskiing.  Leeann is very excited about the opportunity to be on staff at Harris Creek and to serve the church.

Emily Gist

Minister to Children

Emily was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Baylor University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Education, with an emphasis in Early Childhood through Fourth Grade. She began her studies that same year at Truett Seminary, and completed a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Christian Religious Education in 2007. Prior to joining the staff at Harris Creek, she was the Director of the Child Development Center at Lake Shore Baptist Church in Waco, a fully licensed education and day care facility.

Emily and her husband Michael married in June of 2007 after meeting through many mutual friends at Baylor. Michael holds a BBA in Accounting and works as Planner for Waco Transit Authority. They do not have any children yet, but have a Beagle-mix named Honey. Together they love attending Baylor sporting events (especially when they win), hitting golf balls at the driving range, and traveling. Emily also pretends to be a gourmet chef and enjoys reading for fun in her spare time. Both Emily and Michael feel incredibly blessed to be a part of what God is doing in the Waco community through the people of Harris Creek.

Carol Underwood

Mother's Day Out Director/Life Group Coordinator

Carol was born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio. She is the daughter of a Baptist minister and is the youngest of three children. She attended Taylor University, in Upland, Indiana and has a BA in Business Administration. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim, and they have three boys: Travis a student at University of Arkansas, Tyler in high school, and Tanner in middle school.

After a being a stay at home mom for many years, Carol joined the preschool ministry at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, Texas as a Division Director of infants through 4 year olds during the 11:00 worship hour. Carol’s family then moved to Florida for 4 years where she worked at Charis Bookstore at Indian Rocks Baptist Church. When her husband, Jim, accepted a teaching position at Baylor University’s Law School, they relocated back in Texas and began attending Harris Creek. Carol is excited to be a part of the Harris Creek children’s ministry and more specifically facilitating our Mother’s Day Out program. Additionally, she is involved with the administration of our Life Groups.

Carol’s biggest accomplishment in life is raising her boys. She enjoys all sports, especially basketball and has no problem with ESPN being the favorite channel in the house! She is an avid fan of any team her boys are on and also loves music - especially anything accompanied by her son, Travis on his guitar. Carol also enjoys reading, scrapbooking and vacationing in the mountains. Carol loves building relationships through her involvement on staff here and feels very blessed to be a part of kingdom building at Harris Creek!

Landon Collins

Associate Youth Pastor

Landon was born in Elizabethtown, KY but has called many places home.  He spent several of his early years growing up in Nigeria where his parents were missionaries. After graduating High School in VA, Landon attended Christopher Newport University where he received his bachelors in Communication Studies and a minor in Leadership Studies. Shortly after Landon and his wife Erin were married in 2008 they moved to TX where Landon began working on his Masters of Divinity at Truett Seminary.  Erin teaches 6th and 7th grade English at Ceasar Chavez Middle School in Waco.  Landon and Erin do not have kids but they consider their dog “Bama” to be one.  

Landon is an avid Alabama Football fan.  When he is not following the Crimson Tide, he likes to spend his time running, mountain biking, and playing sports.   Landon feels called to full-time Student Ministry. He has a passion to see the lives of Middle School and High School students be transformed.  Landon and His wife Erin considered Harris Creek their home before he came on staff.  He is now thrilled to be a part of what God is doing at Harris Creek.

Brady Herbert

Student Pastor

Brady was born and raised in Borger, Texas, and is one of four children. He graduated from Baylor University in 2005 with a B.B.A. with a double major in Human Resource Management and Real Estate. Upon graduation he entered Truett Theological Seminary in Waco, Texas. He graduated from Truett in 2008 with his Master's of Divinity in theology. He was the Student Pastor at Park Meadows Baptist Church in Waxahachie, Texas, from 2006 until January of 2008. Brady then accepted a call to be the Interim Student Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Waco, Texas. During his time at Park Meadows Baptist Church, he founded an online resource website for churches called Hesed Now Ministries. This is a non-profit ministry that helps equip churches with discipleship materials and other resources.

Brady married his college sweetheart, Becca, in August of 2007. Becca was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where her family still resides. She also graduated from Baylor University and is currently working on her Masters of Education at Baylor as well. She is a first grade teacher at First Woodway Christian School. They have no children and two French Bulldogs named Amos and Zoey.

Brady enjoys watching Baylor sports (even Baylor football), playing basketball, and reading. He loves adventure and believes that the Christian life is the ultimate exploration. He feels called in general to a lifetime of full-time, vocational ministry and particularly feels called to lead the Student Ministries at Harris Creek Baptist Church. Brady and Becca are both extremely excited to work with the Middle School, High School, and College students in the church and to be a part of the mission of Harris Creek Baptist Church.

Drew Greenway

Worship Pastor

Drew was born in Rogers, AR. He spent most of his elementary and High School days in Stuttgart, AR. Drew attended Ouachita Baptist University [Wash-it-ah] in Arkadelphia, AR; and received a bachelor of arts in music, vocal emphasis, in 2006. He also met his wife Paige at Ouachita. Paige graduated in 2007 with a Christian Studies degree. Drew is currently enrolled at Truett Seminary in the MTS program. Drew and Paige do not yet have children, but do plan to have them. They do have a "child" of sorts in the form of a golden retriever named Bentley.

Drew has a deep love for music, for the Baylor Bears and the Arkansas Razorbacks, and also for the outdoors. When he's not at the church you may find him riding his bike on the road or at Cameron Park. Drew has completed two triathlons and plans on entering more. Drew feels incredibly blessed to be able to be a part of HCBC, and is so excited about the ministry that the church represents.

James Tippit

Teaching Pastor

James was born and raised in Garland Texas. He graduated the University of North Texas with a B.S. in Kinesiology in 1994. After marrying his college sweetheart Teri (a Baylor 1991 graduate), he began Truett Seminary in the Spring of 1995. He became youth minister at Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Robinson that same year and graduated from Truett in 1999 with his Master’s of Divinity in Theology.

After graduation He and Teri moved to Houston where James eventually ended up on staff at Tallowood Baptist Church. While at Tallowood, James completed another Master’s Degree at the university of Saint Andrews in Scotland. They have three children; one boy and two girls. Dylan was born in 1999, Darby was born in 2004 and Addison was born in 2005. (Yes the girls are awfully close together!).

James and Teri love to hike in the mountains and generally spend their time playing with the kids. James loves cycling and through the prompting of some zealous church members James began training for his first triathlon in 2007. (Providence intervened and torrential rain prevented that first race. God knows James doesn’t swim well!) Other interests include books, coffee, and conversation. James and Teri hope to bring the love of Christ to their community, through the people of Harris Creek Baptist Church.
