Why Harris Creek?

I was drawn to the vision and mission of Harris Creek--to "seek the welfare of the city." I love that Harris Creek is a church that insists on being involved in God's work outside of the church. My family and I want to be part of that movement.

Favorite Books:

The Gospel in a Pluralist Society, The Open Secret, Transforming Mission, The Things They Carried, Into the Wild

Strange Hobby:

I'm obsessed with Wikipedia. I look up anything I don't know on Wikipedia, which I guess means what I know is about 80% correct.

Something I've always wanted to do:

Drive the entire length of route 66 and take long enough to enjoy it.

Why Harris Creek?

I love the mission and vision that the church has of seeking the welfare of the city. I also love the way people at Harris Creek are focused on living out that mission on a daily basis. I frequently say that Harris Creek is the "perfect" church for Becca and I because we truly believe it doesn’t get any better than this place. Needless to say, we are very blessed to be a part of this community.

Why Harris Creek?

We see how the Lord has used and continues to use Harris Creek to "seek the welfare of the city." We love having the opportunity to serve here. I appreciate Harris Creek's openness and desire to follow where God is leading.

Favorite Music:

The whole family loves Switchfoot (the kids are a little sore that Dawn and I didn't take them with us to their last concert in Dallas...school night!), I also enjoy folk music/bluegrass: Nickel Creek, The Wailin' Jennys, Crooked Still, and Mumford and Sons

Favorite Books:

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (along with the Hobbit, the Children of Hurin, and Silmarillion)

Strange Hobby/Something you don't know about me:

I love spending time in and reading about Big Bend National Park. I try to get out there at least once a year. What do I love about it? One journalist used the following description in 1916, "The country isn't bad, it's just worse. Worse the moment you set foot from the train, and then after that, just worser and worser."

Why Harris Creek?

It's hard to put my finger on. At first it was the people who brought us to Harris Creek. But, since then we get the feeling that God is up to something special here. We feel God has called us to grow and worship in a different environment than most people have grown up in since the 70's.

I have rock, light rock, country, classical, and all things in between on my iPhone.

Favorite Books:

Anything "growth" related. I don't waste my time on the others.
