2025 IN FRAMES

Every week, a team of volunteer photographers capture the moments, people, and stories we never want to forget. We asked them to reflect on their favorite shots from the year and share the reason why.

Artistically speaking, this is my favorite picture I’ve taken at Harris Creek. This moment felt holy in the simplest, sweetest way. Standing in the dark with only candlelight and JP’s voice guiding us reminded me what Christmas is all about.

Baptisms are a very meaningful event for me. It is the culmination of someone’s journey to follow Christ, and the most important decision they will make in their life. It represents both a choice of free will to follow Christ, and the mystery of Christ’s Spirit coming alive in someone. It is so fun to see the excitement and joy from both the one being baptized and the ones doing the baptizing. Hannah’s smile and powerful embrace show her love and joy for her friend. Artistically, I love how the water ripples in the font, the congregation in the background, and the water dripping down both friends.

I was inspired to capture this moment by watching the generations of hands gently covering a woman in prayer, a quiet testament to faith, unity, and the strength we find in one another.

This photo was taken behind the scenes and it will be my favorite because worship is a raw form of loving God. From the amounts of obstacles to when life feels black and white celebrating him brings back the color.

We are blessed to be led in worship by friends who are sold out to Jesus!

As I took this picture, I felt a burst of joy and rush of excitement behind the camera while the crowd erupted with so much contagious energy for our Savior.

Being surrounded by so many people all worshiping the same God made the whole room feel electric. It reminded me how powerful it is when we chase after Jesus together, not pretending to have it all figured out but showing up hungry for more. It truly felt like God was moving in the room.

This photo holds a very special place for me. One of the many things I love about worshiping at HC is that everyone is welcome. Regardless of your age, background, family of origin, skin color, if you are seeking Jesus you have a place here. This tattooed arm reaching to our Lord embodies that inclusiveness. Artistically, I also appreciate the composition with audience in the background, the focus on the arm, and yet the face remains hidden.

I love seeing people come near to the Lord, but when we do it in community, it is infinitely more powerful. These guys praying for each other will always be an encouragement to me.

What a gift it is to worship in both spirit and truth!

- Will Harrison

I felt a wave of gratitude getting to witness her raw sacred moment with our Savior.

Being here reminded me how powerful it is when our whole church family gathers in one place. Seeing our church family worship together, laughing, singing, and lifting each other up made my heart feel so full. It reminded me that faith isn’t meant to be walked alone.

Sometimes worship is joyful. Sometimes worship is difficult: full of shame or struggle, loss or loneliness. A moment where some come to touch the fringe of His robe in hopes of healing and help. This image represents that for me. In one aspect, his life is ordered and well-maintained with a neatly stacked Bible, journal and coffee. His clean crisp hat set carefully to the side. In another aspect, he has come to his Lord on his knees in a posture of surrender asking for something meaning and missing.

How beautiful it is to see a room filled with young adults passionate about giving Jesus glory in worship!!

- Will Harrison

I loved seeing this dad leading his children in servanthood, showing them that loving and serving others can look simple, joyful, and beautifully ordinary.

- Nellie Friesen

In this moment, I felt grateful to witness such a quinine spirit filled worship unfolding around me.

The Commons is an amazing place. It ebbs and flows from a place of quick reflection and prayer early in the morning, to a busy and bustling place of gathering after worship. It’s a place for friends to embrace, families to gather, and new connections to be made. This image embodies the excitement that I love to capture as the subject throws up her arms right before embracing her friend.

- Curt Breuer

I was moved to capture this moment by the purity of her worship, the quiet sincerity in her posture, and the way the atmosphere seemed to pause around her.

- Nellie Friesen

I love this picture for the way it’s bright and light. It was right after a baptism and everyone was there celebrating with their hands in the air praising God and the view felt like heaven.

It is a blessing to have faithful leaders committed to prayer and the Kingdom of God!

Photographing worship is amazing privilege. Worship involves expressing love, gratitude, and recognition of God's greatness, and is likely our most public individual expression of our relationship to Christ - and I have the privilege to capture that relationship in images. In this image I’m struck by her quiet smile, her clasped hands, and the light on her face. The light on her face reminds me of a literal expression of Numbers 6:25 - "The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you."

A young boy joyfully serving and welcoming others into Sunday service, already living out what it means to lead with kindness, generosity, and a heart for God.
